Best metal album of all time?

When I think of my favorite metal albums of all time, dear albums of mine, mostly from my young and careless age spring to mine. Releases by Stratovarius, Strapping Young Lad, Symphony X, Decapitated, Meshuggah and the like.
Those bands all have at least one amazing album out there. And it’s fantastic metal music. In some cases, some of the heaviest metal music ever recorded in fact; But I’m not too sure that it’s heavy enough to transcend metal. Is it heavy enough to break through the chainmail orb of metalness and blow minds elsewhere? Think of it, could songs from your regular favorite metal bands be stripped of their heavy distorted guitars, over-compressed drums and screaming/growling/shrieking/pig-squealin’ and still sound amazing?
Could they be your favorites song ever without all the elements that make it metal (and that make you love it in turn), and just connect to you in music’s most basic principle of melody, space and emotional evocation?
Every song on Ahab’s “The Call of the Wretched Sea” album can. It could also do it in its present form, which is I think, the best sounding one.
I think it is metal’s best album to date. Definitely check it out.
I was just thinking…

I like to stack my clothes neatly and balanced throughout the space available in my washer. I figure the washer will work more efficiently with a balanced weight distribution. Figure it’ll consume less power, wash faster and better too. It’ll also work easier and extend its usable life. Right? Or am I just talking shit?
Ghost – Part 1
Checked my twitter today and saw that Mr. Townsend had posted this awesome video up. I hadn’t heard anything from “Ghost” ’till now, and man does it sound good.
Uaral still got it

If you’re not familiar with Chile’s Doom Folk duo “Uaral” you’re missing out on some truly amazing music. I mean, they do have certain quirks that may not be immediately likeable to everyone (crying vocals, crazy ass banshee-like screaming, an obsession with depression), but the music is absolutely gorgeous.
I was listening to their latest today, “Lamentos a Poema Muerto”, and decided to check out their website to see if they had finally finished it and maybe find a hint of a future release. Turns out the site is still not up completely, but they did upload a “fragment of an un-edited composition”. Hopefully it’ll make it onto their next full release, because it’s fucking beautiful.
Jari Mäenpää: “Fuck ‘TIME’, I’m playing Farmville”

That’s right people. The one and only Jari Mäenpää is now on Facebook. You can find his profile at this address, and if that’s not working for you, just search for “Jari Mäenpää Wintersun” within Facebook.
Don’t worry about this not being legit, as the man himself posted it on the official Wintersun boards. “Who gives a shit?” would probably be the appropriate reaction to this, but I can’t help my fanboy self. Friend Request sent!
A peak behind the mixing board with Dave Ellefson
Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson has picked up the camera on the American Carnage tour to talk with the guys behind the scenes. Check out the sound and light boards in the youtube videos.
Sweet Jesus
BTW, I’m thinking of organizing play sessions on Xbox live better for MW2, maybe through the Facebook group or something. If you haven’t yet, add me to your friends: skeksys.
Old Man Full Force Hate
Have you ever encountered a goddamn hippie in the wild and had no gangsta rap/bay references/Lady Gaga at hand to make him/her feel inadequate?
Well now you can avoid them altogether by warning them off with the official Zach Moore OMFFH Shirt:

Weekend Eroica
