With production values rivaling The History Channel’s better documentaries about Hindu Mythology and carpenter tans of epic proportions comes Rudra, the Singaporean “Vedic Metal” outfit, with their video for Hymns from the Blazing Chariot. The song comes off their latest album, Brahmavidya: Transcendental I, which I got turned into after Zach mentioned it in some episode.

The song’s alright, it’s definitely not my favorite from the album but it serves its purpose as a video song pretty well. Check it out:

The one thing I still don’t get is their haircuts. Especially the vocalist/bassist; What the fuck is going on up there? If anything, everyone in that band should be sporting something similar to my boy Ravana’s do here:

Also, if Rudra’s next album isn’t a concept album about the Ramayana, I will be extremely disappointed. Thanks to our great fan and Food Network pundit Niro Narendran for the heads up.

Continuing the media frenzy and all out whore fest that started ever since he announced this 4 album concept thingy, The Dev has released two interesting videos.

The first one is of course the video for “Bend it like Bender”, a song from his most recent outing, “Addicted”. The video itself is pretty cool looking, sorta mixing some cel-shaded Modern Warfarey looking visuals with anime or some shit. The song is… alright I guess. But then again, that entire album is… alright I guess. Check it out:

Now the second video promises to be the first in a series that will focus far beyond things beyond things. It’s awesome:

Apparently someone deleted that trailer for the new Meshuggah DVD off the interwebs. But don’t worry, I have just the thing to fill that void with: A Meshuggah music video!

That’s the title of the MeshMesh’s upcoming live dvd. I guess 95% of you couldn’t give 2 shits about this, but it’s pretty cool news to me since I may never get a chance to see these guys live. It’ll drop on February 5th in the Old World and 5 days later, on the 10th, in the New World.

Ronnie has been diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer. We are starting treatment immediately at the Mayo Clinic. After he kills this dragon, Ronnie will be back on stage, where he belongs, doing what he loves best, performing for his fans.

Thanks to all the friends and fans around the world that have sent well wishes. This has really helped to keep his spirit up.

According to fellow metal interwebs page MetalStorm, Angra are currently working on a new studio album for release in early 2010. Here’s a statement supposedly issued by the band’s Edu Falaschi (I can’t find anything on their official website):

I’m here to tell that Angra already has more than 10 songs in work. These songs promise our album to be phenomenal at the very least! I’m going to try to express how the new album is getting its shape. What became clearer day-by-day, is the Magic in these songs, the romanticism, the aura of the times of hope, the beauty and the finess in the melodies. The technique becomes a real ally of the passion, which permeates every harmony in its most sublime form! These melodies make the breast explode in this feeling of pride and joy. This is the new album of Angra!

If it’s anything like “Temple of Shadows” I’m fucking in. That album was awesome. If you’ve never heard of Angra, here’s a little taste you asshole:

Guess what? Nuclear Blast signed on yet another metal band. And it’s mother-dragon-fucking Rhapsody no less. Is there nothing sacred anymore? Also, they’re coming up with a new album, “The Frozen Tears of Angels”.

I had to go to a new paragraph here to give you some time to assimilate/stop laughing at Rhapsody’s new album title. Seems like production and mixing duties will still be performed by the Luca-Alex duo and “valorous” friend of the band Sascha Paeth. In their official site, they comment on the theme of the new album, which will continue the amazing “Dark Secret Saga” and further Luca Turilli’s use of retarded imagination for concept music album purposes.

Now you may just be reading this sitting comfortably in front of your computer and think nothing more of it. But I see what’s really going on…

Earlier this year, Varg Vikernes, the infamous black metal murdering poster boy was released from prison claiming to be a new, reformed man. And I told you then I wasn’t buying his bullshit.

Satan Claus here just announced he’s got a new album in the works, with which he will bring tr00 Black Metal back. Meanwhile, he says:

The ‘black metallers’ will probably continue to ‘get loaded,’ ‘get high,’ and in all other manners too behave like the stereotypical Negro; they will probably continue to get foreign tribal tattoos, dress, walk, talk, look and act like homosexuals, and so forth.

Gaahl, you and your boyfriend better start running.

Given the fact that he is no longer “imprisoned by the criminal anti-Norwegian regime in Norway” for committing a crime, he will be releasing “The White God” (keyword: white) next Spring. It will more than likely suck.

I’m a fan of Mathias “IA” Eklundh’s solo guitar work, but I’d never really checked out his band, “Freak Kitchen”. Turns out they have a new album out, “Land of the Freaks”, and it’s pretty sweet.

Check out the video for Teargas Jazz below, but please pay special attention to the bass player and his wacky on-stage getup because he obviously needs it:

I hate the bass player and his stupid fucking “hey look how crazy I am” helmet/vest combo, but having Mathias’ mug up and close on 80% of the video isn’t appealing to me either. Cool song though.
