Operation Payback Shuts Down IFPI Site

“Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony Music’s main IFPI (International Federation of Phonographic Industry) website is down. Not coincidentally, there’s an Operation Payback post addressing the Pirate Bay crew’s lost sentencing appeal: ‘Dear IFPI, MAFIAA and other parasites, The recent verdict in the Swedish Appeal Court (ThePirateBay spectrial) provoked this statement from Operation: Payback. We emphasize our statement with a Distributed Denial-of-Service attack aimed at the IFPI’s website.’”

This probably isnt going to amount to anything but I think its a nice gesture to show the “MAFIAA” and the like the collective annoyance towards them.

Piratebay founders lose appeal

“Three of the four founders of The Pirate Bay have lost an appeal against their conviction last year of helping to share copyrighted material. It wasn’t a total waste of time, however. The three have had their one-year jail sentences cut to between four and ten months. (The fourth founder was too ill to appear in court, and will appeal separately.) The foursome also had their fine bumped from 32 million kronor ($4.5 million) to 46 million kronor ($6.5 million).”

I call this bullshit but i guess thats what you get for going up against the deep-pocketed copyright holders

Neaera Unveil New Album Art

I know it’s not generally my style, but I fully enjoy most of Neaera’s material. Go pick up Rising Tide of Oblivion if you haven’t already.

Anyway their new album “Forging the Eclipse” will be released on October 22nd and they have released the album art and tracklisting for the album.

Yeah, it’s kinda dumb.

Korpiklaani anyone?

So I missed last years Paganfest but really wanted to see Korpiklaani. Lucky for me they’re coming around again with none other than TYR!

However I’ll be going alone and if there’s any listeners who want to meet up let me know, I’ll be at the January 28th show at Thee Parkside in San Francisco.

Autographs are 300 dollars. Free if it’s going on your boobs.

More on the New Finntroll

“The last leaves have fallen in the old world of Europe, stripping down the trees to wooden skeletons, and a dark wind is blowing from the coldest north to freeze your souls. FINNTROLL will blow their new album “Nifelvind” across the withered earth in February 2010. Everybody who thought that the album title is “Mot Skuggornas Värld” should learn his lesson to never trust a Troll. “Nifelvind” was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland and mastered by Mika Jussila (add any big Finnish Metal band for namedropping) at Finnvox Studios. The album cover artwork was done again by the band’s own guitarist Skrymer.

FINNTROLL comments on the album as follows:

“After tough and hectic weeks in the studio, due to lack of time and summer festivals, we are now really, really pleased with the results. “Nifelvind” is the most advanced and mature FINNTROLL-album to date, with musical themes ranging from powerful death metal riffs to dark soundtracks, from pounding black metal Inflatable Pub For Sale to groovy 80′s pop-music. All this is accompanied by our trademark sound, lots of never-before-heard instruments in the metal-scene, folklore and legends that make it overall the most versatile album we have created so far.”

The tracklist reads as follows:

1. Blodmarsch (intro)
2. Solsagan
3. Den Frusna Munnen
4. Ett Norrskensdåd
5. I Trädens Sång
6. Tiden Utan Tid
7. Galgasång
8. Mot Skuggornas Värld
9. Under Bergets Rot
10. Fornfamnad
11. Dråp

Well this is a strange early 20th century mob slasher movie look that they seem to be going for. Hmm.

Fucking Boris

Japan-fags Boris have released a teaser video for the upcoming “Heavy Rock Hits Vol.2″. The song featured is not spectacular, but the video is fun enough to watch, because when the Japanese want to dress up tongue-in-cheek like an 80′s hair band… They go balls out.

New 4 part Immortal Interview

Roy from Imhotep talks in depth with Immortal about everything from the early days to All Shall Fall.

Even though you can’t understand what the hell he is saying half the time, Abbath still gives off that “I am the coolest guy you will ever meet” vibe.

For a while now, theres been some technical problems with the Itunes feed. The problem is that the old metalscapeonline adress is shot, wich makes the feeds DNS server point to an invalid adress. Hopefully this will be fixed in the coming 2 or 3 days. But if you cannot wait or if the problem wont be fixed, you can just resubscribe and it will work fine again. Sorry for the inconvenience and hopefully it will all be back to normal soon enough.

7 Years and 20 Days and it's finally out!
