Korpiklaani anyone?

So I missed last years Paganfest but really wanted to see Korpiklaani. Lucky for me they’re coming around again with none other than TYR!

However I’ll be going alone and if there’s any listeners who want to meet up let me know, I’ll be at the January 28th show at Thee Parkside in San Francisco.

Autographs are 300 dollars. Free if it’s going on your boobs.

More on the New Finntroll

“The last leaves have fallen in the old world of Europe, stripping down the trees to wooden skeletons, and a dark wind is blowing from the coldest north to freeze your souls. FINNTROLL will blow their new album “Nifelvind” across the withered earth in February 2010. Everybody who thought that the album title is “Mot Skuggornas Värld” should learn his lesson to never trust a Troll. “Nifelvind” was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland and mastered by Mika Jussila (add any big Finnish Metal band for namedropping) at Finnvox Studios. The album cover artwork was done again by the band’s own guitarist Skrymer.

FINNTROLL comments on the album as follows:

“After tough and hectic weeks in the studio, due to lack of time and summer festivals, we are now really, really pleased with the results. “Nifelvind” is the most advanced and mature FINNTROLL-album to date, with musical themes ranging from powerful death metal riffs to dark soundtracks, from pounding black metal to groovy 80’s pop-music. All this is accompanied by our trademark sound, lots of never-before-heard instruments in the metal-scene, folklore and legends that make it overall the most versatile album we have created so far.”

The tracklist reads as follows:

1. Blodmarsch (intro)
2. Solsagan
3. Den Frusna Munnen
4. Ett Norrskensdåd
5. I Trädens Sång
6. Tiden Utan Tid
7. Galgasång
8. Mot Skuggornas Värld
9. Under Bergets Rot
10. Fornfamnad
11. Dråp

Well this is a strange early 20th century mob slasher movie look that they seem to be going for. Hmm.

Fucking Boris

Japan-fags Boris have released a teaser video for the upcoming “Heavy Rock Hits Vol.2″. The song featured is not spectacular, but the video is fun enough to watch, because when the Japanese want to dress up tongue-in-cheek like an 80’s hair band… They go balls out.

New 4 part Immortal Interview

Roy from Imhotep talks in depth with Immortal about everything from the early days to All Shall Fall.

Even though you can’t understand what the hell he is saying half the time, Abbath still gives off that “I am the coolest guy you will ever meet” vibe.

Resubscribe

For a while now, theres been some technical problems with the Itunes feed. The problem is that the old metalscapeonline adress is shot, wich makes the feeds DNS server point to an invalid adress. Hopefully this will be fixed in the coming 2 or 3 days. But if you cannot wait or if the problem wont be fixed, you can just resubscribe and it will work fine again. Sorry for the inconvenience and hopefully it will all be back to normal soon enough.

Ban them laptops

Cinema chain Cineworld in the UK now has a policy banning anyone from carrying a laptop into a theatre, even if it is not used. The management claims that this is an anti-piracy move on the advice of the Federation Against Copyright Theft, the source of all kinds of dubious anti-piracy statements. When it was pointed out that the laptop had no camera, the management made a temporary exception.

For customers, the message is clear: leave your laptop in the car. For pirates, the message is clear: there is more money to be made slinking around cinema car parks looking for laptop bags.

Mobile phone with a camera? Go right ahead. Laptop in a bag with no powersuply? Get the fuck out of here!

Metalscape 119 - Because of the Black People

NIN finaly giving up

As some of you know, Nine Inch nails is doing the farewell tour wich will end in los angeles. And for me, thats good news. I have his first album Pretty Hate Machine, and i think its pretty cool. But now, every dude and their mother seem to be fucking jacking of to them. I usually dont hate a band because many people listen to them, but half the NIN fanbase is probably kids who think they are so awesome, cool and goth because they listen to nine inch nails, paradise lost and candlemass, wear black cloths they got from the supermarkets cloth department and wear a bit too much makeup. This pisses me off. So now atleast i dont have to see some big headlines with about “trent reznor getting into a new dispute”. And hopefully I also wont hear anymore retarded scenekids talking about how “cool and awesome” the new NIN album is.

A Steady Cam Is No Match For Petri Lindroos

Ensiferum just released the video for the title track on the new album “From Afar”. It’s the first song I’ve heard off the new album and it sounds pretty good.

What struck me right off the bat was the use of a full live orchestra, the brass hits at the beginning of the song are excellently done and bring a new atmosphere to Ensiferum, who were beginning to get a little stale.

The video has fairly high production values but I have no fucking idea what’s going. The chick with the dreads is cute as a button though, she looks like she’s from Whoville. The camera also shakes whenever Petri looks into it while he’s singing, I understand it’s supposed to give of a powerful vibe. But if you’ve ever seen the man in person, he’s kinda frail/anorexic looking. Check out the video below.
