Glorior Belli Off The Absu Tour
In a statement released earlier, which I didn’t get to read, the band had this to say according to Metal Underground.
“Glorior Belli are forced to cancel their participation to the North-American tour with Absu.
“Candlelight was not qualified enough to get everything arranged legally for the coming of the band and couldn’t acquire the appropriate papers. Therefore we have no other choice but to pull out.
“They had all the time necessary and this mess is INEXCUSABLE. We strongly condemn this organization and are extremely disappointed by this kind of attitude coming from our label.”
However the band has changed their tune slightly on the MySpace stating that
“It was impossible for our label Candlelight to get everything arranged legally for the coming of the band”
And that it was the people reading the first statement who missed the point.
I don’t know exactly what’s going on but personally I think that first point is hard to miss.
In the end it all boils down to them being French.
We’re All The Pirate Bay
Everybody probably heard of the spectrial against The pirate bay.
Now a Swedish artist called Montt mardie, decided to make a kind of anthem called “We’re All The Pirate Bay” which anybody and everybody can download for free and share with your friends and he also encourage people to make remixes of the song to show others that “We’re All The Pirate Bay”. (The song is damn catchy.)
Hey,
“An artist has got to make a living just like everybody else, there’s no doubt about it. And these are tough times, believe me I know. The thing is though, if I were to go back in time, 10 years or so, and tell the 15-year-old version of myself that over a night, 60 000 people had heard one of my songs, the first question I’d throw back at myself wouldn’t be “how much money did I make?”.
Don’t get me wrong, I love money and I want to make a lot of it. Bathe in it just like Uncle Scrooge. But money isn’t the main reason why I write songs. First and foremost I want people to hear them.
Times are so strage at the moment and a lot of people are angry and upset. Still, for each day that goes by I get more and more convinced that we shouldn’t try to fight the future, we should embrace it. Try to see opportunities instead of catastrophys.
I’ve written a song. I call it “We’re All The Pirate Bay”. It’s free and nobody will ever have to pay for it, though if you incist you are welcome to make a donation.
Take care, Monty
Invisible Oranges writer get’s burglarized
Cosmo Lee, proprietor of the great mp3 blog Invisible Oranges, recently had someone break in his house and promptly steal all of his shit. Including all of his computers. He has set up a place to donate. I gave a few bucks, and if you’ve ever gotten any enjoyment out of his website you should too.
I just hope he blow my donation on one of those jenk-ass Kentucky Bourbon Burgers, I wasted my 5 dollars so you don’t have to.
A response to the unbalanced amount of technological bullshit on Metalscape
It’s in Norwegian, so it pretty much qualifies as metal. That is all for now.
Smileys harboring malicious code?
Security researchers Yoann Guillot and Julien Tinnes have found a way to encode malicious code into smileys and provided a proof of concept encoder to automate the process. The researchers said their discovery paves the way for IM malware that would be impossible to detect since the malicious code would be ‘indistinguishable from genuine chat messages.’ I’ve tested the proof of concept code which works very well. Time to panic IM users?
